[March, 2011]

AgriFoodResults is a European project, funded by the European Commission that intends to answer the need for a better dissemination of results of food research. The vision is to improve the cost effectiveness of agree-food research activities by enhancing the transfer of the results to the end-users. Researchers will get guidance and information and food industry can get a one-stop-information pool.

"Communication Star 2011": HELENA and CASCADE rewarded
The initiative "Communication Star 2011" raised a lot of interest among the European food research community. More than 70 project coordinators and communication experts attended the event organised on 1 March 2011 in Brussels. The morning session was dedicated to communication practices in food research project with presentations of the AgriFoodResults guidelines and virtual supermarket. The afternoon session was open by Maive Rute, Director of the Biotechnologies, Agriculture Maive Rute and Food Directorate of DG Research and Innovation.

The Awards went to HELENA ("Healthy Lifestyle in Europe by Nutrition in Adolescence", Prof. Luis A. Moreno) in the category of small projects and to CASCADE (Chemicals as contaminants in the food chain - a Network of Excellence for research, risk assessment and education, Dr. Ingemar Pongratz) in the category of large projects.

AgriFoodResults Activities

Virtual supermarket
Imagine you could linger around looking for interesting ideas of innovative R&D project results in a familiar environment. No thresholds or cognitive barriers, just an intuitive access and guidance via an internet based virtual world. How does this look like?

In the AgriFoodResults project we developed a supermarket as an internet-based virtual 3D-world. By walking around the user can discover the results of R&D projects at his/her special point of interest. The infopoints in the supermarket function as one-stop-shops and teasers, giving a short overview on the project’s results and an easy access to more in-depth information and to the responsible project manager.

You can enter the virtual supermarket from this page.
